Soup Really Is Good Food!

There are two kinds of winter people here in New Hampshire.  First, there are the outdoors 15170851_1730955033890055_153006242690949333_nmen and women who love winter for its numerous sports activities. Downhill skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing- the more snow, the better!  It offers endless opportunities to get out and get some fresh air and enjoy the crystallized bounty offered by Mother Nature.  Second, there are the people who view winter as a time of hibernation and creativity.  They hunker down with thick books, puzzles, knitting projects, seed catalogs and view snow days as a great time to plan their summer gardens, or sit by the fire with hot cocoa.  No matter the type of person, there’s one thing that can be agreed upon:  Soup is the perfect winter food!

Nobody embraces that idea more than the folks at The Flight Deck.  We love soup too!  It is the perfect food.  It’s warming and hearty, smooth and soothing, comforting and filling.  It just feels good to eat soup and brings back memories of being nurtured.

At The Flight Deck we take great pride in our homemade soups.  We remember what it was like to be kids and having the blessed reprieve of a snow day.  We’d head out, build snowmen, have snow ball fights and build forts, and come in to tug off our boots and snow pants and have a warming bowl of tomato or chicken noodle soup!  Then it was back out in to the snow for more fun all afternoon and just as dusk was setting in, head back into the house where Mom would have a big pot of delicious soup and hearty bread all ready for dinner.  chic noodle

Soup is more than food-it’s a memory tied to feelings of well- being and love.  At The Flight Deck we have embraced those memories and created a soup and salad bar, so soup’s on no matter when you come in!  Last week we featured thick clam chowder, rib sticking potato soup, velvety cheddar broccoli and of course, chicken noodle soup like Mom made!

With our bottomless bowl of soup, you can make a whole meal of soup and salad.  However, if you’re just in the mood for a delicious and warming start to your meal, you can’t beat a crock of our cheesy, melt in your mouth, French onion soup.

Celebrate winter in any way that works for you-outdoors, embracing the brisk wind in your face and swaddled in winter gear, or sitting near the fire reading your favorite book.  When you emerge from the cold or your cave, come in to The Flight Deck and feel nourished, nurtured and warmed as you enjoy our perfectly nuanced soups.  We won’t even make you take your boots off!
